Frequently Asked Questions: Can I use the veteran's social security number when I e-mail questions the veteran exemption database administrator?

Question

Can I use the veteran's social security number when I e-mail questions the veteran exemption database administrator?

Answer

No, e-mail is not a secure means of communication.  The current VED system does not require the SSN for the record.  The best way to identify the veteran is by using the Veteran ID number.  This is unique to the individual veteran.  You can also use your County Name and the Veteran's first and last name from the system.  Should the database administrator need additional information, they will contact you directly.
