Frequently Asked Questions: A veteran has a NGB Form 22 and served during the Vietnam War time period. Does the veteran qualify for the Veterans Exemption program?

Question

A veteran has a NGB Form 22 and served during the Vietnam War time period.  Does the veteran qualify for the Veterans Exemption program?

Answer

Not necessarily.  Service in the National Guard during the Vietnam War is not enough to qualify for the exemption.  The veteran must have served on active duty, other than for training purposes, at some point during the conflict.
