Frequently Asked Questions: The veteran has a DD Form 214 and served during the Vietnam War time period but was medically discharged from his/her initial enlistment training. Does the veteran qualify for the Veterans Exemption program?

Question

The veteran has a DD Form 214 and served during the Vietnam War time period but was medically discharged from his/her initial enlistment training.  Does the veteran qualify for the Veterans Exemption program?

Answer

The veteran is not eligible for the exemption simply due to being medically discharged during their initial military training.  However, If the veteran can qualify through the Veterans Administration as disabled with at least 10 percent disability, then the veteran would qualify for the exemption.
